What can I do when a datajack doesn appear in the NetConnect listing?
When you need to connect a datajack that is not listed in the jack selection list of NetConnect, double check the jack number. Often times “B”‘s can be mistaken as “8”‘s. Make sure the jack does not start with “HD”. “HD” jacks are wired to the analog phone system and can not be used for ethernet. These are most common in undergraduate houses but they may still exist in limited instances in other buildings. If the jack has been just recently installed by UIS, chances are we simply are not aware of it yet. Send email to netmanager@fas.harvard.edu and we will add it. Please visually verify the new datajack number as it is written on the plate, and include it, the building name, the room number, style of datajack (voice/data, voice/data/data, quad data, etc.), and phone number if applicable. If any information is missing, there could be additional delays. Please let us know at that time of any other new datajacks installed at the same time, and they will be available for your selection in
