what can I do to the hedders to increase power and sound?
There is not much you can do to headers that will change the sound of your exhaust. Headers will increase you power providing they are not restricted by the rest of your exhaust system. Sound comes from the rest of the system, although headers do play a part in the tonal quality coming out the back end. You did not mention what motor you are running, so we will assume it is a v-8 of some sort. Headers are just the beginning of a well designed exhaust system. Let us start by saying there are headers and there are headers. We have seen some really poorly designed headers that are not much better then the factory cast iron mainfolds. Start with a good quality set of headers and then run at the very minimum 2 1/4 ” exhaust tubing to the out back. Even better is 2 1/2″ tubing and for a real ringing sound and if you have the clearance 3″ tubing, although on most stock V-8s 3″ tubing will not make a whole lot of differance. Run that into some free flow mufflers of choice and walla, a beautifu
