What can I do to stop fungal diseases like black spot, powdery mildew and rust?

0

Most fungal diseases like black spot, powdery mildew and rust can be controlled effectively with fungicides like Lilly Miller’s Cueva Copper Soap or Multi Purpose Fungicide. However when it comes to disease control, prevention is always better than a cure. By creating growing conditions that reduce plant disease you will have done most of the work needed to control fungal diseases. Some things that will discourage plant diseases are: • spacing plants sufficiently far apart to ensure good airflow and encourage plants to dry quickly after rain or watering, • watering in the morning so that plants don´t remain wet overnight, • don´t grow the same type of plants in the same location in successive years, • control weeds that are in the same family as the plants you ar growing as they can be a source of infection, • prune during dry weather to avoid wound infections, • and remove and destroy any infected plant material.
