What can I do to gain gas mileage on my 04 chevy silverado?
As a side note if you’ve never done this before, dump a plastic 16 oz. bottle of 3M Total Fuel System Cleaner in your gas tank with no more than 14 gal. of fuel. Any NAPA store has this relatively new product. To date this is the best system cleaner on the market. It cleans the throttle body fuel injector nozzles, intake manifold, valves and most importantly the combustion chambers. Take your VIN # to your Chevrolet dealer and they will feed it through their computer. It’ll spit out every item that was originally used to build your truck. You are particularly intrested in the rear end gear ratio. If you don’t pull anything or live where the land is relatively flat you might consider a lower gear ring and pinion. Chevrolet has gears way down in the very low 3’s I’m pretty sure it’s a 3.23 ratio. This will allow the motor to loaf along at 65 mph. at slightly over 2,000 rpm. That alone will save gas. New ignition wires ( short ) and a set of iridium spark plugs will help if you’re pushing
