What can i do to eliminate the rotten egg smell in my apartment tap water ?
Typically, the ‘rotten egg smell’ is actually sulfur in the water. I’m surprised you don’t smell it in the water in the bathroom too, if the sulfur was present in the main water supply. Some water sources have sulfur in them naturally. If you’ve got it ONLY in the kitchen water supply, then you may want to contact the building’s maintenance to see if work has been done recently, or what they can do to help eliminate the problem. If the problem is sulfur, the most common remedy is a charcoal filter. You can use one on the main supply coming into the unit, or an ‘under the sink’ model, or even one that screws onto the end of the faucet itself. Again, if you smell it ONLY in the kitchen supply, I’d talk to the building maintenance first. If you decide to go with a charcoal filter, they could even install it for you.
