What can I do to avoid hand pain from knitting?

0

I have been knitting for 5 years now. The only time I get real pain in my hands is when I haven’t knit for a couple weeks then pick up the needles again. That being said, I usually relieve this pain by stretching my hand out as far as I can (fingers spread wide apart) and holding there for a few seconds. You should feel the stretch in your palm between your thumb and forefinger. I’ve also found that massaging that same area for a few seconds relieves my pain. Therapeutic gloves are also available in many craft stores, ranging from $10-$22 in most cases. I have also seen ergonomic needles and crochet hooks but have not tried any myself.
