What can I do for Wedding Favours?
I think that the very best wedding favors are personal to the bride and groom. Or they really fit in with the theme of the wedding. After all, you want them to actually remember your day, not just take it home and eat it or put it on a shelf with a bunch of very similar favors! At my wedding, which was Japanese themed, my favors were chopsticks that I purchased very cheaply in bulk. I folded origami flowers and tied them around the chopsticks with floral wire. They turned out to be really cute, and people could choose to keep them or use them if they liked. But I felt like it really reflected my husband and I. I’ve also gotten at a wedding a packet of flower seeds, which was a really neat idea, and at a wedding she went to my mom got a bookmark with a beaded tassle that had the wedding date and names on it. I’ve heard of people getting specially colored candies to give away, which is cute. You can get candles or even make your own candles cheaply which is a really neat idea – if you we
the traditional wedding favour is 5 sugared almonds wrapped in netting (or similar) This originates from the Italian tradition of giving sweets to all the guests at a wedding. The five sweets that are traditionally given to each guest represent health, wealth, happiness, fertility and long life you can but these already made but it’s cheaper (ans a lot more fun) to do it yourself. get some netting from a market or fabric shop, buy the almonds in bulk from a market or on line (confetti.co.uk is a good site) get your bridesmaids and some other friends round and have a girly night in and make them up. just cut the netting into squares, put 5 almonds in and tie it together with some ribbon, very easy and very pretty, also your guests will realise you spent time on them which is so much nicer than money!!
Buy some plastic spoons, some Hershey’s kisses, some ribbon and some tulle circles. Place about 3 or 4 kisses on the spoon and wrap the tulle around them and then tie the ribbon around the spoon and the tulle. Attach a little note onto the ribbon or spoon and have it say “A spoonful of kisses from the bride and groom”. Go to Wal-Mart and check out the wedding section back in the craft area. They have some great little favor gift bags that are relatively cheap. A shotglass would fit in them perfectly – that’s the size of them. Place some Hershey’s kisses or you and the groom’s fav candies in there and attach a note to the handle that says “Thanks for sharing in our day”. There are many cheap options for favors and many easy ways to do them. Just do something small…it won’t be what it is, but more about the token of appreciate from you to your guests!
I’m in the same boat, but don’t feel pressured into giving something “imaginative” or “different”, most guests come to a wedding because they care about the couple getting married, they will have been fed and watered throughout the day and entertained with music and dancing (in most cases) and had cake etc, even a simple favour such as a small box filled with chocolate mints is a sweet gesture, so please don’t feel obligated to spend the rest of your budget on gifts for the guests. I have got little Tiffany blue boxes from Ebay and am filling them with good quality sweets, it’s just supposed to be a little thing for the guests to take away, food works well as most people enjoy a nice piece of chocolate or something similar. Favours are not a legal part of a wedding, so not totally necessary anyway, and there is too much pressure on couples to spend spend spend on things that are “frills”.
Everytime there’s a wedding favor question my first thought is “small picture frames”. I love the way that looks. You can get them like at Dollar stores, in different styles and just print out little signs that read Our Wedding John and Mary February 31, 2008 Or they can even double as place settings. You can print out the table number and their name and they can pick themup as they’re walking into the reception hall. They can say Table 5 MaryAnn Smith http://www.blissweddingfavors.com/shop/c… http://www.weddingthings.com/Merchant2/g… http://www.favorlabel.com/wedding_favors… http://www.bridestr
