What can I do about my neighbour who let my car tyres down in order to stop me parking in a public drive?

You’re not in the wrong, but you have to make SURE it was your neighbour that did this, as sometimes evil coincidences do happen. Personally I find it irritating when my opposite neighbour parks his car(s) in front of my house (he has a driveway for both, like you), but this doesn’t justify me to even go there and ask him to move them. I don’t think you can stand your ground just with politeness with this neighbour, things have to get more serious. At first I would ask him if he did it. Then I would put a camera and park there again a few times and see if I cought him. If I did, I would either break his face or report him to the police or both.

Basically there isn’t a lot you can do without proof. However,if he persists in complaining about you parking there, ‘invite’ him to call the police. When the police arrive, explain your side of the story when you get your chance, (Don’t interrupt the neighbour if the police are talking to him first). If they believe that you are causing an obstruction, which is the only conclusion that they can possibly come to from the information given, or they must ignore the situation, they must therefore deal with ALL vehicles parked in the street with the same result. This can only have an adverse effect on your neighbours relationship with everyone in the street.

If I was your neighbour I would park my car so you couldnt use your drive being as you like to park in front of his house then maybe he should park in front of yours

Although you arent in the wrong, you might have a difficult time with the police as you have no evidence. You may cause more problems with the neighbour if the police speak to him and you might have more done than just your tyres being let down.

You don’t mention the width of the street. Is there enough space for your neighbour to exit/enter his driveway in one go? If not, then maybe a little thought on your part would go a long way to resolving this situation. Your neighbour may not be as good a driver as you. Either way, you ARE entitled to park in a public roadway without interference. BUT, all local councils have their own regulations regarding parking, and one of these may be contradictory to your rights to park. Before continuing this fued, I suggest you get a copy from the local council, and give one to your neighbour.
