What can ferrets eat what are they not allowed to have?
Things they shouldn’t have – foods and drinks high in sugar; caffeinated products; dried fruits (although some people do give their ferrets raisins, however they should be given very, VERY few raisins, I say just stay away from them); most cereals (some are ok, like Cheerios and Kix, they should be low in salt and sugar and given no more than one or two per day); veggies (can become lodged in their intestinal tracts); dairy products (some say they’re lactose intolerant, others say they’re not, either way dairy products aren’t the best thing for them); seeds and nuts (can cause blockages); chocolate (high doses can be fatal); salty foods; most ferret treats on the market (most are very high in sugar and have very little or no meat, so make sure you check the labels). Things they can have (as treats) – meats (cooked or raw chicken, turkey, beef, but NOT processed or “lunch” meats); insects; eggs (cooked or raw – yolks are very nutritious); small prey animals; chicken baby food; nonacidic
