What can cause high DHEA levels?
High DHEA levels can often be associated with high stress although several variables can affect hormone levels such as; medications, aging, environmental toxins, unhealthy lifestyle choices, excessive exercise, improper diet, etc. At menopause, when ovarian function slows, there is sometimes a shift in the hormone pathway that favors the androgen hormones. Medical conditions such as polycystic ovaries or androgen-secreting tumors will also elevate androgen levels.
