WHAT CAN CAUSE A URINARY TRACT INFECTION?
Bacteria is always present in the bladder. A urinary tract infection occurs when the bacteria multiplies abnormally and causes irritation of the lining of the urinary tract and sometimes the kidneys. It is not always possible to determine exactly what has caused many infections, as the causes are often varied. Sometimes, if a person is generally unwell, with lowered resistance, they may be susceptible. In addition, certain immune system-lowering diseases such as diabetes, Lupus or HIV can increase the likelihood. Also, certain medications or even having a catheter can provoke an attack. Whatever the cause, there is no doubt that this can be a very painful condition indeed and a urinary tract infection cure is essential if the infection is causing anything other than very mild discomfort and if it has lasted more than a few hours.
