What can Bio-PDO currently be used to make?
Over a dozen products can be made today using Bio-PDO as a key ingredient. The primary brands are Zemea renewably sourced propanediol and Susterra renewably sourced propanediol. Zemea propanediol offers a high purity level and low irritation in personal care and cosmetic applications. Susterra propanediol provides low toxicity and biodegradability to applications such as deicing fluids, anti-freeze and heat transfer fluids. In deicing applications, it significantly reduces energy use and emissions over other propylene glycol formulations. Susterra propanediol is also a key ingredient for DuPont Sorona® polymer and DuPont Cerenol polyols.
