The Cardinals were forced to punt the ball after the opening kickoff, but strong safety Kyle Hoke recovered an Auburn muff on the 18-yard line for his first career fumble recovery. MiQuale Lewis would capitalize offensively for Ball State with a two-yard touchdown run just two minutes into the contest, giving the Cardinals a 7-0 advantage. It was Lewis’ second rushing touchdown of the season and the 27th of his career. He moved into fourth in the Ball State record books for career rushing touchdowns.
