What can be done with regards to the increase in property tax (IBI) in Gata de Gorgos in 2009?
IBI or property tax is a local tax that all property owners living in the town or municipality must pay. The amount that has to be paid to the Council each year depends on two variables: 1. The rateable value of the property in question (which means that of the land and the building): this is the value that the Administration believes the property is worth; 2. The tax rate: which is a percentage that the Council applies to the rateable value. With regards to Gata de Gorgos, an increase from 0.75% to 1% in the tax rate for 2009 was approved. The initial approval of the Modification to the Municipal By Law that governs this Tax in Gata de Gorgos, was published in the BOP on the 22nd of October, 2008, establishing a period of 30 working days to lodge pleadings. No pleadings were lodged. The definite approval of aforesaid modification to the Municipal By Law was published in the BOP on the 15th of December, 2008, establishing a 2 month period to file a Contentious-Administrative appeal aga
