What can be done to waterproof a cyclocomputer?
One reader suggested the surefire method of placing a plastic bag over the cyclocomputer and mount. This waterproofs both the unit and the mount. It was also suggested that for otherwise waterproof units, that the contact points be sealed with silicone compound. This is available in small tubes from auto parts counters. Vaseline was suggested as an alternative, since the silicone compound resembled vaseline in texture. In addition, vaseline was noted to reduce corrosion on the contacts significantly. Finally, it was suggested that wireless computers might be more immune to water penetration overall.
