• The plungers need to be replaced and depending on the solvents being used, the syringe itself may need to be replaced. Highly ionic solutions or salt based solutions can lead to scratching or etching of the glass which can cause the syringes to leak. The PTFE tips wear out with use and eventually lead to leaking. We developed Salt Line syringes for use in Hamilton instruments. The plunger tips are made out of UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Poly Ethylene) and are harder than PTFE and will better stand up to the salt based solutions.
