The most important goal is to promote economic growth. In fact, the best way to increase revenue coming into the government is not to raise taxes, but to grow the economy. Lower taxes and sensible, modern regulations can help the economy grow. It would be a huge mistake, especially in light of our economic problems, to burden the productive, job-creating sector of the economy with more taxes and excessive regulations.
