In addition to the services (scope of practice) a Registered Nurse can already provide, an RN(EP) can independently prescribe medications, order and manage the results of screening and diagnostic tests, and perform minor surgical and invasive procedures. The Extended Practice Regulation outlines the specific services in greater detail. The RN(EP) consults and collaborates with other health care professionals as appropriate to ensure that the overall health care needs of clients are met.
