What can a supplementary prescriber prescribe?
A supplementary prescriber can prescribe any licensed or unlicensed medicine, including controlled drugs, for any condition within their competence, as part of a patient-specific, written clinical management plan (CMP) agreed with a doctor. Guidance on supplementary prescribing can be found in the Department of Health document ‘Supplementary Prescribing by Nurses, Pharmacists, Chiropodists/Podiatrists, Physiotherapists and Radiographers within the NHS in England’.
