What can a public school official do if he/she believes that parent is not qualified to educate their child at home or is not educating the child?

If school officials have a reason to believe that a child’s education is being neglected, they have an obligation to report that suspicion to the county child protective services. (See IC 31-6-11-3) However, home education is not neglect and it is not unlawful.
