What can a Miniature Donkey do?
Miniature donkeys can be shown in halter classes and trained to participate in in-hand trail classes, in-hand jumping, and driving. They are easily trained to pull a cart, or to carry a pack if you like hiking. They are an excellent animal to use for therapy in nursing homes or with the physically or mentally challenged, as they have such gentle temperaments. They can be used for investment livestock in a breeding program, to qualify for farm status for your property taxes. Due to their calm nature, they are also excellent companions to horses. But mostly, they are good therapy for your soul! Many times if we are feeling discouraged or blue, we go out with our donkeys and those long ears, big soulful eyes, and gentle personalities who just want to give and get hugs can melt our hearts and make everything right with the world again.
