What can a farmer joining the Animal Welfare Approved program expect?
We offer the Animal Welfare Approved seal to farmers who are committed to raising their animals according to a humane welfare standard. Without a seal it is very difficult for consumers to identify animal products from high welfare systems versus conventional systems. Participating in our program helps farmers communicate to consumers their commitment to animal welfare, which results in a higher value product, and also increases their chances to be better compensated for their work. The Animal Welfare Approved program does not create the markets or enter into contractual arrangements to buy and sell products, nor does it create or establish markets or prices for farmers.
