What cage would protect a dwarf hamster from cats and not have a huge risk of escaping?
If you keep your hamsters well out of the way of your cats, you should be fine. You should never keep a cage on a low shelf or table where the cat could jump up and try to attack. 10 gallon tanks are okay so long as you have a screen at the top to prevent anything getting in (or out). They are easy to clean and the only downside is that you can’t add a ton of cool toys. The habitrails (colourful tube cages) are really the best option. The tunnels are safe and secure for play and the hamsters get tons of exercise. It’s a lot easier to clean one of these than you think. You just take it all apart and wash the pieces in hot water.
