What cables can be used to connect a monitor?
Traditionally a VGA cable (D-Sub connection) is used to connect to a monitor. It has 15 pins/sockets and two awkward screws to attach it securely. Increasingly we use DVI or HDMI cables. These send signal digitally (VGA is analogue); the main difference is that HDMI sends picture and sound, DVI is picture only. Display Port is an emerging new standard which offers higher bandwidth than HDMI; it looks similar to HDMI.
