What cable were you using to capture video before. USB – Firewire ?
I have never used Adobe to capture video before and would not know the finer ins and outs of capturing to Adobe. MidnightStar is right in saying that HDMI is either for semi pro usage on a Blackmagic card or for viewing from the Canon on a large LCD/Plasma.
