What Brand of Popcorn Pops the Best?
The hypothesis for this experiment is which brand of popcorn pops the most kernels. The materials needed to conduct the experiment are several brands of popcorn, a popcorn popper or microwave and a kitchen scale. There are two ways to conduct the experiment. First, you can measure a set number of each brand of popcorn kernels and pop them in a popcorn popper for the same amount of time. By counting the number of kernels left unpopped, you can provide the data to support your hypothesis. The second way is to microwave prepackaged bags of popcorn of the same weight for the same amount of time and either count the unpopped kernels or weigh the bag after popping. Display materials could include photos, popcorn kernels or packages, and a popcorn popper.
