What brand makes the best disc for Ultimate Frisbee?
In the beginning Ultimate players didn’t know any better and used Wham-O Master Frisbee (R – trademark). As the sport – and discs – evolved, new throws like the push pass, finger flick and hammer (aka knife) appeared. The cheap immitation discs you get in discount stores, and even the Wham-O’s don’t just cut it anymore. If you want to develop throws from both sides, that is both backhand and sidearm finger flick, along with an occassional push pass (for a goal ?), go with the Discraft UltraStar. If you feel twelve bucks is too much, check out Discraft’s web site for links to purchase cosmetic rejects. They fly true, have only cosmetic (printing) flaws, and can be had at about half the price. And once a disc is used in two or three games of Ultimate, they all get beat up anyway.
