What boxer in the history of boxing do you think has the saddest ending to their career?

This is a tough one. For as many success stories as there are in boxing, there are probably just as many sad endings. Without a doubt, the saddest endings for boxers are from those who lost their lives in the ring – Benny Paret, Leavander Johnson, Duk Koo Kim and others. It is even sadder for their families. Out of those who survived devastating injuries, but were left significantly impaired, I find Gerald McClellan’s story to be the saddest. At the young age of only 27, he suffered severe brain damage that resulted in the loss of his eyesight, the ability to walk unassisted and 80 percent of his hearing. Fortunately, he has a family that cares for him and some fellow boxers such as Roy Jones and Nigel Benn who have helped him financially.
