WHAT BINOCULARS ARE BEST FOR ASTRONOMY?
Generally, 7×50’s are the most recommended for general astronomical use. Some people prefer 10×50’s although they require steady hands for long observations. Larger binoculars in the 80mm range are an excellent choice for astronomical viewing. Due to their weight, these units will require a tripod adapter bracket and tripod to provide a steady image. Specific binoculars such as the Vixen Giant series and the Canon Image Stabilisation models are well suited for more advanced astronomical applications. Optically, those models with BaK4 prisms tend to give pinpoint star images across the field of view.
