What better, Coke or Pepsi?
Nothing refreshes like a coke. Pepsi is sweeter but has a strange after taste. I avoid fast food places that feature Pepsi rather than Coke. I’ve even been known to go to Taco Bell because I wanted tacos and then go to McDonalds for a Coke. Was there ever a worse disaster than when they tried to phase out what is now classic Coke and introduce new Coke? I remember searching little stores and mini-marts searching for places that had old coke to buy and store. I was so relieved when they realized their mistake and brought back their classic taste.
If I just want to drink a dark cola, Pepsi is my choice. However, Coke has a much higher amount of carbonation and is, therefore, better to mix with alcohol since it won’t go flat as quickly. I’m really not a big carbonated beverage drinker since I’d rather have iced tea, but when I drink sodas without alcohol in them, Pepsi it is.
“Better” is a loaded word and can mean anything you want. You include the “health” tag, and on that score, the answer is “neither”. They’re both carbonated sugar water. Neither one claims any health benefits, which is good, because neither one has any. Drink it in moderation, if you like, but don’t expect that it’s going to do anything for you except rot your teeth and hit you with some insulin shock. As for taste… well, that’s a matter of taste, as it were. Pepsi repeatedly won its own self-conducted blind taste tests, but people generally preferred Coke over Pepsi when the test wasn’t blind. Personally, I like Coke a bit better: it’s slightly less sweet (especially when I can score the kind with sugar rather than corn syrup) and the flavor profile tends more towards spicy and less towards citrusy. But most people turn out not to really care all that much and will drink either one that’s put in front of them.
