What benefits will the Honors Community extend to the larger university?
In addition to its obvious impact on the enhancement of student learning and on the formation of an Honors Community, an honors-related QEP is an excellent choice for the University because it • touches on a number of priorities from the Union 2010 plan; • supports and refines the Universitys commitment to enhancing student learning through undergraduate research; • has clear faculty development implications; • uses enhanced student learning as a platform for augmenting a number of co-curricular student development initiatives; • builds on the strong foundation of the previous Honors Program to move the University to new levels of academic development in both curricular and co-curricular programs; • addresses the Universitys changing student demographics, specifically the growing percentage of academically talented students • will positively impact student retention; and • will afford students in all disciplines the opportunity
