Apart from the benefit of lower pricing for international bandwidth connectivity, the consumer will have access to the extensive backhaul networks of WIOCC shareholders for intra-African connectivity, diversity of break-out points into the internet, network resilience due to the ‘collapsed ring’ configuration and the reduced dependency on satellite connectivity which has been expensive and restrictive for the growth of bandwidth-intensive applications and communications-based industries. The main benefit to consumers will be the more widespread availability of cost-effective internet connectivity.
