What are the benefits of being in Army ROTC? In addition to whatever money they’re paying to contract cadets (juniors and seniors, back when I was a cadet), you receive all the training necessary to be a competent military officer. You will be required to meet certain mandatory physical fitness standards. You will learn to lead troops under fire. You will learn to fire an M-16, break it down for cleaning, and perform minor repairs.
