What benefits are available to a gravely ill person from Canada’s public pensions?
A gravely ill person who may be eligible for EI sickness benefits may also be eligible for disability benefits from the Canada Pension Plan (CPP). That person can apply for both of these benefits at the same time. If the gravely ill person worked in Quebec, he or she contributed to the Quebec Pension Plan (QPP), which offers benefits similar to those of the CPP.
