What benefits are affected by marrying an immigrant?
Assuming you are talking about the UK, a non EEA immigrant is not allowed to claim benefits, it’s actually illegal unless he has ILR. He must have permission to marry while in the UK and to get that permission, he must be able to prove that you can support yourselves without recourse to public funds i.e benefits. You of course can claim them if you are eligible, but you must satisfy UKBA that your reliance on benefits will not increase as a result of his presence in your household, which is not easy to do as two cannot live as cheaply as one. As to which benefits will stop, the same ones as you would no longer be eligible to if you are cohabiting. His nationality makes no difference.
