What benefit does the CWP offer over a simple course website? ?
Much of the value of a Course Management System (CMS), like Blackboard, is behind the scenes that involve integration with University systems and services, such as, student registration systems (Axess), authentication (Kerberos), and security. A CMS also provides instructors with integrated tools such as the exchange of data collected from a quiz into a grade book and the pooling of data and content to be shared between several courses. The greatest benefit of a CMS is for the designers and instructors who work with the tool on a daily basis to keep content updated. The strongest features of a CMS should be transparent to the student.
