What bear bait can I use that is LOW COST.?

I have hunted over bait in Maine. The guide used bread and donuts bought at a local bakery. The bakery sold day old stuff for a huge discount, and 2 day old stuff was free. The main bait was bread with mollases or jelly on it. Find a few Dunkin Donuts, and some 7-11s for old stuff. Put it in the freezer and save for Bear Season. Also if you go to a bakery supply warehouse, you can buy Molasses, Donut Glaze, and all sorts of sweet smelling jellies by the 5 gal pailful. Maybe you can befriend a manager to a supermarket; they regularly throw away loads of bread and paisteries that don’t sell each day. Also save the grease from your gas grill cup; especially if you use barbecue sauce often. With a little legwork and planning, bait should not cost much if at all.
