What basal reading series has been adopted at Fort Belvoir?

0

Harcourt Brace’s Signatures series has been adopted school wide. Kindergarten and First Grade have also adopted Mondo’s Bookshop for their primary reading program. In addition to the adopted reading basals, Fort Belvoir has a wealth of supplementary reading materials. We have a reading bookroom with multiple copies of novels and trade books to accompany the reading series and to augment instruction in the classroom. The combined reading materials provide a balance of fiction and nonfiction selections available for classroom instruction. All teachers plan lessons and select materials to match the needs of their students. They teach their students in a combination of whole class lessons and flexible guided reading groups to insure that students receive instruction to meet curriculum goals. The teachers integrate reading and writing across the curriculum to provide a balanced literacy program. The newly adopted materials will support that instruction.
