The barcode scanner needs to be a decoded RS232 output type. Almost any decoded RS232 output type can be used, however there are two scanners that are particularly recommended for use with the VRC8900 series. These are the Symbol LS3203ER and the Symbol P302FZY. The LS3203ER features a dual laser and is suitable for reading barcodes at close range and at distances up to 11m (39 ft). The P302FZY features fuzzy logic decoding and is suited to reading poor quality barcodes or barcodes being scanned through shrink wrap.
