What background do I need to enter the BSc (Nutritional Sciences)?
• In high school: Complete the science profile and enter our Freshman program leading to the BSc (Nutritional Sciences). This is a 3 1/2 year undergraduate program which includes a 40-week internship (Professional Practice (Stage) in Dietetics); the program is accredited at both the provincial and national levels. Graduates are eligible for membership in professional dietetics and nutrition associations and, therefore, use of the title dietitian-nutritionist. The restricted use of the titles dietitian, nutritionist and dietitian-nutritionist is provided under the Professional Code and regulated by the Office of Professions. The provincial regulatory organization (i.e., Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec) is responsible for registering eligible dietitians/nutritionists and is legislated to assure ongoing competency of members. • In CEGEP or junior college: Take the pre-university science core, which includes general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, physics and calculus.
