The Stylus 740 supports two Auto Focus modes: Spot (default) and iESP. • SPOT: In this mode, the camera uses the AF focus mark displayed on the LCD to determine the subject of the photo. • iESP: In this mode, the camera determines what subject to give focus. The camera detects the area of greatest contrast (generally, this will be the border where your subject meets the background) and focuses on that area. Even when the subject is not in the center of the frame, focusing is possible.
