What authority does the ISLRBC have to consider recreational boating and other interests when setting Lake Ontario outflows?
• In 1961, the IJC gave discretionary authority to the ISLRBC to depart temporarily from the regulation plan flow when a deviation would provide relief from adverse impacts to any interest without appreciable adverse effects to any of the other interests. At various times, this authority is used to assist shoreline property owners, navigation, hydropower and other interests, as well as recreational boating.
