What assessment options will students have for meeting the Reading Essential Skill requirement in addition to the OAKS Reading Assessment?
Work Samples scored using the Official State Scoring Guide for Reading; ODE will use the materials that were designed in 1999 as a basis to develop an Official State Scoring Guide for Reading. ODE will work with ESDs and Districts that have been using the draft scoring guide to ensure the alignment of the draft scoring guide to the reading content standards and to establish additional anchor papers for grades 3-8 and 10. ODE’s goal is to publish the Official State Scoring Guide by June 2009. National Standardized Tests (Pending adoption by the State Board of Education) – The State Board is very interested in approving national standardized tests such as the SAT, PSAT, IB, AP, ACT, and PLAN as additional assessment options for students to demonstrate proficiency in Reading and other Essential Skills.
