What artistic and literary traditions flourished in the Muslim world?
In the Muslim world there were many different forms if artistic and literary traditions that flourished. Islamic law prohibits art from displaying Muhammad or Allah at risk of inproperly portraying them. As a result of this Islamic art is very symbolic and uses geometric shapes and firgures as well as words to create beautiful artwork. One popular form of artwork was mosaics. Over the course of history, many different groups of people have created their own style of mosaics. Islamic mosaic are usually made only of geometric shapes that are repeated to create a tesolating design. These pieces of art could go on forever and symbolize eternity. Another popular form of art was rug making. These were popular during the Safavid Empire and were very detailed and very well planned out in advance.
