What arrangements are in place to ensure the quality and consistency of information being reported?
As part of the contracting process the 3 firms completing the coding audits are required to follow the NHS CfH methodology regarding the actual coding audit process. In addition they have implemented internal arrangements for quality and independence in line with the standards used internally by the Audit Commission. NHS CfH will implement a process of quality assurance by undertaking verification of the standard of work completed by coding auditors. In line with the audit methodology, the findings from each Trust will be greed with the Trust as part of the audit. The Trust and PCT will be able to comment on the draft report and issues will be discussed and agreed at the closure meeting. All reports will be subject to quality assurance by the coding audit firm and the Audit Commission prior to being issued in draft format for discussion.
