What arrangements are being made about transition should the Academy go ahead?
The Kent County Council consultation on moving from a 3-tier to 2-tier system on Sheppey is running alongside the Academy consultation. At this stage no decision has been made as to the preferred option and therefore which site(s) will be affected. It would, therefore, be almost impossible, to provide any details about transition. However, a very important part of the planning phase is to minimise disruption to students and disturbance to the community. Before any construction was to begin, detailed plans would be drawn up and all appropriate permissions applied for. A detailed health and safety plan would be prepared to ensure that was no risk to children and that arrangements for educating students during the building phase were in place. The sponsor will set up a Transition Group to work out how to manage the process smoothly, to minimise disruption to pupils education.
