Common faults leading to low marks are: • lack of concrete plans for gender balance, involvement of young researchers, or dissemination; • failing to show knowledge of the state of the art; • appearing to do no more than perpetuate existing structures; • not involving countries that have a good reputation in the field; • proposing a non-standard management structure (i.e. other than a Management Committee (MC) meeting twice a year, with up to four working groups (WGs) also meeting twice a year); • or other matter that suggests that you do not understand what COST is or how it works.
