What areas are available for hound hunting?

Have the same question, even though it never happened to me to join a hunt like this. I usually hunt alone or with my elder cousin, we never involved dogs in our hobby 🙂 Just us, our rifles and some professional optics from http://www.atncorp.com/smart-hd-optics  .

Sambar Deer may be hunted with the aid of scent-trailing hounds only in the area bounded on the south by the Princes Highway and on the west by, broadly, the Hume Highway (and in some areas of the former Central Highlands Sanctuary). Within this area hound hunting is not permitted in National and State Parks, or on private land without the consent of the occupier or land-owner. The use of scent-trailing hounds to hunt Sambar Deer is generally permitted in State forests. However, areas of State forest between Warburton, Noojee, and McMahons Creek and around Rubicon are closed to all forms of deer hunting. Also, hounds may not be used to hunt deer in the State forest areas around Marysville and around Jamieson-Kevington. For more information on these areas, please return to the game hunting home page and select the link “Where can I hunt?” from the column at the left of the page, then select the link “Sambar Deer hunting with gundogs or scent-trailing hounds”.
