Usually the files “archived” in a Zip are compressed to save space. Zip files make it easy to group files & make transporting & copying these files faster. Users running Windows XP are able to open .zip files without any additional software. All other users will more than likely need to download a program such as WinZip in order to access files inside the .zip.
