What are your views or opinions on child beauty pageants, or pageants in general?
In my opinion, these parents are doing this to their kids so they can live vicariously through them. If you listen to the mamas, most of them have been in the pageants as well when they were younger or are trying to do something that they were never able to do. I wouldn’t put my child through that. These poor little girls seem so excited at times .. until they realize what all it entails. They want to look pretty and play the “princess” but they don’t realize the pressures that come with being the “princess”. My daughter came to me when she was little and said “Mama, my cousin is in a modeling agency (my niece was part of John Robert Powers agency at the time) and I would like to try that, too. Do you think I am pretty enough?” I thought about it and thought about it. I talked to my husband about it as well, we made the best decision together for our daughter. We let her do the audition.
